Housing Crisis declared by South Hams District Council
The District is reassuring residents that it does have a five-year supply of land for housing and adopted Joint Local Plan with Plymouth and West Devon, and an adopted Housing Strategy that they consulted on last year, but local leaders say that due to recent events, there is just not enough properties for local people and those people wanting to work in the District.

Chair of Bickley Parish Council Brian Hill said: “It seems excessive, but it's been in the planning for a long, long time so it's no great surprise to some, but it is obviously a big shock and surprise to others to see 2,000 homes, which more than doubles the size of Woolwell as it is, without necessarily the rest of the infrastructure in place to support that.
