Nov 18, 2007 · silverwood is a great lake for stripers, there are many large schools of the dink sizes 3 to 5 pounders. there are some serious fat mamas there too, but hard to get. this is no secret and im no pro either. i fish silverwood on a regular basis, the past 3 weekends i have caught limits on the chovies.

A wiper is half striper mixed with white bass. The only other places to catch stripers is the canals out past Salton Sea.

If you're going for the top water bite I would recommend a 7ft m or mh rod with a 6.2:1 reel. If you're live bait, umbrella rigging or trolling I would go with a big round reel with a heavy rod.
