Memorial Arena - THE GEORGETOWN VAULT
Built in 1922, Georgetown Memorial Arena replaced the natural skating rink on Wilber Lake –the body of water that once covered the area. But when the lake was eventually drained, the community needed a new venue for the increasingly popular sport of hockey.

Dec 8, 2022 · The arena was the birth place of the Little NHL established in 1936 by Gordon Alcott. The famous hockey players of Halton Hills: Arthur Moore of Acton (August 25, 1880 – 1935) won four Stanley Cups in a row with the legendary Ottawa Silver Seven from 1903 to 1906.

Yum!

The arena represents the happiest years of my teenage life. I worked with Mrs. Pries at the canteen, and also with Don Gosling and John Knight at the pool. I had a beautiful romance with someone at public skating and danced my feet off in the Rose Room. A big part of my life belongs to the Memorial. Thank God for my memories.
