Aug 3, 2020 · Before the invasion, Aang was rightfully concerned that he might not come back, and wanted to address it. Let's not forget that he's 12. He stole a kiss from her and then left to face his destiny (he thought he was going to, at least). I think there is a fair bit going on there.

Apr 22, 2020 · Just saying from a storyboard perspective and thinking of human mindset it makes more sense to me if it was an almost kiss. Then there was the life and death kiss on the submarine that reminded both of them they liked each other despite Katara having other love interests. Then finally they kiss each other in a time of peace and it sticks.

It felt like they were at the point of being together, and it really feels like the writers are working hard to keep them apart the second half of the season. You can tell they're end-game and trying to hold off for that final scene kiss.

Seeing someone else's viewpoint is good, it let's you in on things you might not have noticed before, even in all 6 rewatches lmao. Kataang, like all other ships, definitely had upsides and downsides, but I think the downsides won over for me.

Kataang might have been fine if they hadn't had it reach its conclusion in the show itself. If instead they had left things ambiguous and confirmed it in TLOK or had let the comics more naturally develop the relationship over time. As it is in the show, 12 and 14 is a pretty big age gap, and it's noticed in how the characters are written.

Even when they kiss, it seems to surprise Katara, like she hadn’t even thought of that as a possibility. It seemed sudden to me since she had shown little to no interest.
