Nov 19, 1999 · I have a 10ft plastic pond boat that I've taken to the Caney. I've dropped in at the dam and floated down. When they're generating, I can't go upstream with a 55lb thrust trolling motor (at least not fast enough to get anywhere).

Jun 2, 2008 · Yes, you can fish the Caney in a 12 foot jon boat and small kicker. No, you can't fish it safely unless you are experienced in handling that boat, can read currents and know the river. That's just my opinion.

Oct 10, 2006 · I've been drooling over the River Hawks, but until I have the $, I've been looking at some used Jon Boats. I mainly fly-fish the Caney and other similar rivers - is a Jon Boat an ok choice? Is it stable enough to stand and cast from?
