At that time early on, I think that he really did care about Hugo. I was also wishing that somehow he would make it right by Hugo. But in the first season, he had no money. By the time he could have helped Hugo, he was probably too far gone to give a shit about him anymore.
Hugo, the Janitor has one of the best personalities in the show.
Jun 2, 2016 · Go on the breaking bad wiki and read Hugo's character bio and there is no mention of him being dead or being the victim in the convenient store. In fact all mention of the convenient store guy only refers to him as simply convenient store worker or something along those lines.

Helped out Walt in the washroom a couple times when he was vomiting and had nothing to do with the meth, but lost his job and got arrested because they suspected he stole the gear from the school.
