Jan 21, 2019 · The best calibration file is one that’s custom to the specific mic. Considering the wide range of response of various ECM8000 samples (as seen in the graph below), a single generic calibration file can’t account for all mics. That said, the deviations appears to be in a +/- 5 dB window, so a generic file would be better than nothing.

REW first-timer: orientation of ECM8000 mic?
Aug 10, 2010 · I want to use REW with a Behringer ECM8000 mic and no SPL-meter to check the speaker/room response of my home-audio system. This will be with a view to adding some room-treatment solutions, such as bass-traps and dealing with first-reflection points. I believe there is a thread here where someone was asking about using REW without an SPL-meter.

I understand the minidsp mic is the one to get as its calibrated and is a much simpler solution as its USB. But because I've already got the ECM8000 I was wondering if it was up to the job?

Feb 18, 2008 · When using the ECM8000 it should be mounted upright. The file is the actual response of the microphone we had calibrated and not an inversion. We tested a few ECM8000's using this file and they were fairly close.
