As I have mentioned a number of times typically the best/most consistent cutthroat fishing is when the river flows are at seaonal lows.

For about 1/2 hour I had non-stop action skating a top water sand lance pattern. Measured 19" and 21" sea-run cutthroat were landed plus numerous slightly smaller fish. Most casts I would either hookup or sting a large sea-run cutthroat.

Traditionally, it has been more productive for resident coho; unfortunately their numbers have been way down over the past few years. Oddly enough, Golden Gardens can be pretty good for cutts at times.

Sep 18, 2017 · I have never found low water to be an issue either with these fish. Give that float a shot and as mentioned above hit the spots with little flow,downed wood, and back eddies and you will find some nice fish. These fish are very aggressive and I prefer reverse spiders with a floating line casted tight to cover and stripped back erratically. Enjoy!
