Oct 30, 2012 · Insert the grommet in the rod eye, super glue the rod eye to the top of the rod tip and let it setup. Now get some good epoxy and epoxy it on good. Insert spring and your all set. You may want to run a 1/8″ drill bit through the grommet after it is in the rod eye, do it by hand and a little at a time to get the corrct fit for the spring.

The added weight will load the tip section up more and will take away from the load that your jig putting on the tip section. I also know that a size 2 is about the biggest size you can wrap on a nitinol or comparable wire, for a spring bobber setup.

Nov 29, 2018 · If one is using only a jigging rod for dead sticking, there are other methods to assist in strike indicators. One can thread the bobber or a bead in between the line guides. If you want to have open bail, use a larger bobber or bead. Or attach a foam strike indicator onto the line. Don’t forget spring bobber attachments. Many ways to choose from.

Mar 6, 2020 · I love the Clam Nitinol spring bobbers. Two of them in a pack at Fleet Farm for $8.99 and they are very durable. I have the UL version for small jigs and when I hook into a bass, they bend almost 90 degrees and they never kink or develop memory.

Jan 30, 2007 · I think ice buildup gives the bobber more resistance… improving the chance of the fish “feeling” the line and spitting the bait back out. Summer fishing, when I set up for bobber… I use the “stealth” bobber. I think, again, this bobber provides some of the least resistance when trying to land them finicky walleyes.

Jan 7, 2006 · I agree with Luke. I haven’t seen anything out there better than the St. Croix spring bobber. That allows you to have the spring action without running the line through the spring. I will be investing in that set-up soon since it drives me nuts to run my line through the whole spring. And yes, it is a must for me to to have the spring bobber.
