Louisiana State Police are currently investigating the death of an inmate at the Ascension Parish Jail, officials said on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The identity of the inmate who died has not been released, nor have any further details surrounding the circumstances of the death.

Two people are dead, and one person is critically injured after a crash in Thibodaux on Thanksgiving night. According to Louisiana State Police, Trent Truxillo, 19, of Houma, was driving south on LA Highway 1 at a high speed while approaching the intersection of LA Highway 3185.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the inmate who died at the parish jail on Sunday, Dec. 1. APSO said the inmate who passed away was Darvin Mumphrey, 40, of Donaldsonville. Deputies said the inmate’s cause of death is pending an autopsy.
