GREEN LAKE, Wis. (WBAY/WSAW) - Ryan Borgwardt, the man accused of faking his own death on a kayaking trip in Green Lake in August is in custody and made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

Police had previously said they believed Borgwardt planned his Aug. 12 disappearance and tried to conceal his efforts to mislead investigations.
