The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday announced its first list of 11 candidates for the Delhi Assembly polls, dropping three sitting MLAs and fielding six leaders who switched over from the BJP and the Congress recently.

The names were announced after a meeting of the AAP's political affairs committee (PAC) headed by party convener Kejriwal. The elections for 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly are due in February 2025.

In an unusual move, Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday announced its first list of 11 candidates for the Delhi assembly elections, which are likely to be held in Feb next year.The capital is due to elect 70 members of the assembly and AAP has been the first off the block.

This makes the AAP the first off the block to announce candidates for the polls, the dates for which are still to be announced

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing a shortage of its own leaders as six out of the 11 candidates named in its first list for Delhi Assembly polls are "turncoats" who switched to AAP from the BJP and Congress recently.

What is interesting is that of the 11 seats for which the AAP released its candidates, six are currently held by the BJP and five by the AAP.
