After more than a half-century at NBC 4 New York, legendary broadcast journalist Chuck Scarborough will conclude his record-setting run as the New York City DMA’s longest-serving local television news anchor on Thursday,

Chuck Scarborough, the face of NBC 4 New York for half a century, will anchor his final newscast on Dec. 12, but return for special reports.

Scarborough, the longest serving anchor in New York's history, called his time at the network "historic," a source with knowledge told The Post.

There are believed to be only two anchors in the United States who have done this job longer — Dave Ward, of Houston's KTRK/13 (who retired in 2017 after 51 years) and Don Alhart, of Rochester's WHAM/13, who hit the 50-year mark in 2016 and retired this past June.

Chuck Scarborough, an institution in New York broadcasting, has been reporting the news for half a century. On Dec. 12, he’ll say goodnight to viewers for the last time as anchor on WNBC. Scarborough, 81, is retiring after more than 50 years at NBC.

The celebrated broadcaster, who started at the New York station in 1974, announced that he would wrap up his anchoring career on Dec. 12.
