The bail hearing for Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, scheduled for Tuesday (3 December) at a court in Chattogram, Bangladesh, has been postponed until 2 January due to the absence of a lawyer to represent him. The delay comes amid growing concerns for the safety of his legal team.

Ramen Roy, the advocate who represented Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in Bangladeshi court was brutally attacked by protesters and his house was ransacked, ISKCON claimed on Monday. The spiritual organisation said there is a growing danger against religious minorities in Bangladesh and has advised its followers to hide their identity.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has strongly dismissed claims that it has distanced itself from Chinmoy Krishna Das, the Hindu monk who was recently arrested in Bangladesh. The organisation reaffirmed its support for Das and called for the protection of Hindus and their places of worship in the country.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Thursday expressed solidarity with priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was arrested on charges of sedition for allegedly raising a flag on a stand displaying Bangladesh's national flag.

ISKCON is yet to issue statement. Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das’s arrest in sedition case earlier this month led to widespread protests in Bangladesh.

The organisation said it is outrageous to make baseless allegations that ISKCON has anything to do with terrorism anywhere in the world.

After the formation of the interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus, minorities in Bangladesh, especially Hindus, have come under severe attack by Islamist extremists in the country.
