Fans jumped to social media to defend Shaboozey who is steady climbing the charts while country producers are making insensitive jokes.

Producer and songwriter Trent Willmon addressed his CMA Awards comment about Shaboozey over the weekend, though he stopped short of offering an apology. "Shout out to Shaboozey for your response to my fumble and having a great sense of humor," Willmon's statement reads in part, "Congrats on that 17-Week #1 song!"

Shaboozey's fans want Trent Willmon's head, though the country singer himself could not have been more calculated and classy in his response.

Shortly after the 2024 CMA Awards ended, Shaboozey, whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, appeared to respond to the joke. He shared a photo of himself sitting in a sprinter van wearing an all-black outfit with rings on his hands and a chain around his neck.

At this year's CMA Awards, Shaboozey has been the name on everyone's lips. But not all of the stage name jokes landed.
