No. 6 Notre Dame took a huge step towards the College Football Playoff by demolishing No. 19 Army. The Irish have now won each of their last 16 games against the Black Knights, the longest such streak in rivalry history.

Army is currently in the No. 4 spot behind the Boise State Broncos, Tulane Green Wave and UNLV Rebels. With only a 19.3 percent chance to win the American Athletic Conference, and have a shot at clinching a playoff berth, the odds are stacked against them.

Since losing to Northern Illinois on Sept. 7, Notre Dame has won nine consecutive games, including 49-14 over previously unbeaten Army on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.

Army was dropped from the ranks of the unbeaten by Notre Dame, and falls out of the College Football Playoff rankings, too.
