Since missing the cut in his first two starts of the FedEx Cup Fall, Maverick McNealy has played high-level golf. He finished T-16 at the Shriners, T-6 at the World Wide Technology and T-17 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Now, he’s 18 holes away from claiming his first PGA Tour win at The RSM Classic.

Maverick McNealy steadied himself after a rugged start Saturday with a 4-under 66 and caught up with Vince Whaley in a wild third round at the RSM Classic in which a half-dozen players had at least a share of the lead.

Vince Whaley matched the low round of the day with a 7-under-par 63 on Saturday to share the lead with Maverick McNealy after three rounds of action at The RSM Classic in St. Simons Island, Ga. Whaley jumped eight spots to the top of the leaderboard and sits at 14-under 198 with McNealy,

Bramlett, needing at least a three-way tie for third to keep his PGA Tour card, sits T-12 through 54 holes in Sea Island, a few shots behind McNealy, his longtime friend.
