Groucho - a popular meeting point for London’s famous artists, musicians, writers and media figures - has had its venue licence suspended by Westminster City Council

One of Soho’s best-known private members’ clubs has been forced to close as police investigate reports of a “serious crime”.

Soho ’s famed Groucho Club has been served with notice of a licence review after allegations that the venue has been associated with “serious crime ”. As a result, the club has now temporarily closed.

Today, it’s not the same story: the private club which opened in 1985 has just been shut down due to being allegedly linked to ‘serious crime’. Westminster City Council said it suspended the venue’s licence after a request from the Metropolitan Police, which is investigating a ‘serious criminal offence’ that took place at the club.
