Kerala woke up on Tuesday morning to the sad news of the death of five first-year MBBS students at the state-run Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, in a horrific accident on Monday night.

In Alappuzha's Kalarcode, the CCTV footage of the accident revealed that the car, traveling at high speed on a rainy night, lost control and collided with the bus before being crushed beneath it.

Alappuzha: In a tragic incident, five first-year MBBS students from Alappuzha Government Medical College lost their lives when the car they were traveling in collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) passenger bus on Monday (Dec 02) night,

The police said the accident took place near Kalarcode. However, the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.

The car, attempting to overtake another vehicle, braked, skidded, and collided with an oncoming bus, killing five MBBS students.

According to police, the deceased, who are reportedly MBBS students of a government medical college, have not been identified so far. The accident took place around 10 pm near Kalarcode.

Due to the impact of the collision, the car was completely damaged and the occupants inside were taken out after breaking open the vehicle, police sources said.

The incident occurred after 9 p.m. when the Tavera car, which according to eyewitnesses, was travelling at high speed skidded and hit the KSRTC bus which was travelling from Guruvayur to Kayamkulam. The eyewitness said the car was cut open and threw the medical students out.
