Dozens of flood warnings and alerts remain in place across England on Sunday as disruption from Storm Bert continues in many parts of the UK. A man in his 60s died on Saturday after a tree hit his car near Winchester, while a number of homes were flooded in counties Down and Tyrone in Northern Ireland.

Ireland is set to go under red, orange and yellow rain and wind warnings as Storm Bert hits the country. The warnings have kicked in with severe flooding, damage and risk to life expected in parts of the country.

Met Éireann meteorologist Liz Walsh said Storm Bert was a “multi-hazard” weather system which could bring wind speeds gusting up to 110km/h, intense rain and “even a bit of snow in places”, but not all necessarily together. A further complication, she said, was the slow speed at which Storm Bert was moving.
