JEMISON, Ala. ( WBRC) - A woman was killed and a Calera police officer is in the hospital with serious injuries following a car crash Tuesday evening. The two vehicle crash happened in the area of Highway 191 and County Road 42 in Jemison. A woman in a SUV died at the scene. Her name and age have not yet been released.

The Jemison Police Department reported around 6 p.m. there was a major wreck on Highway 191 at the intersection of County Road 42 West. According to Calera Police Chief David Hyche, a Calera police officer was involved in the crash and transported to UAB Hospital.

Jemison police Chief Shane Fulmer said the crash involved an SUV and police vehicle driven by an officer who was on duty and on the way to her home.
