After the initial reports, many Wolverines fans praised Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy for securing the No. 1 recruit in the country for the maize and blue due to his outspoken desire to handle the NIL for a transfer quarterback, but that doesn’t speak to what actually happened.

While wearing a crown and holding a scepter, Portnoy gloated Thursday after Michigan flipped No. 1 quarterback Bryce Underwood from his previous LSU commitment. Michigan reportedly offered Underwood a four-year, $10.5 million Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal and Portnoy hinted that he contributed to the enormous Wolverines recruiting win.
