Copa Libertadores champion Botafogo had another big reason to celebrate Sunday as the club owned by American businessman John Textor beat Sao Paulo 2-1 to win its first Brazilian league title since 1995.

Completing a league-and-Libertadores double on Sunday, Brazilian club Botafogo clinched their first national title since 1995 with a 2-1 victory against Sao Paulo.  Last week’s anti-hero in the final of the Copa Libertadores,

Botafogo beat Atlético Mineiro 3-1 to win their first Copa Libertadores title despite being reduced to 10 men after Gregore was sent off just 30 seconds into the contest.

A long 29 years since last winning the Brazilian top division, Botafogo has finally been crowned the king of the Série A, in 2024
