The American Automobile Association (AAA) expects nearly 80 million Americans to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. 8 News Now is tracking travel from the roads to the skies.

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Buckle your seatbelts, it’s expected to be a record-setting travel weekend, with the American Automobile Association (AAA) estimating nearly 80 million Americans will be traveling this Thanksgiving. Those flying this holiday are just 7% of the pie, according to AAA’s website. Nearly 90% of travelers will be traveling by road.

Airport officials also advise travelers to prepare for longer wait times at ticket counters, security checkpoints, taxi lines, and other services.

AAA estimates roughly 80 million people will travel over the Thanksgiving holiday with more than 70 million hitting the roadways.
