CT's Alyssa Naeher, a World Cup champ and gold medalist, retiring from international women's soccer
Naeher has been the starter for the USWNT since Hope Solo retired after the 2016 Olympics, in which Naeher backed up Solo after her debut in 2014. She was the starter for the the Women's World Cup championship team in 2019 and she started in goal during the United States' Olympic Gold medal run in Paris this summer .
