Way back in 2013, Google acquired the map startup Waze. Fast forward just 11 years and one of Waze's stand-out features is finally being rolled out to Google Maps.

Some Google Maps users are reporting seeing new traffic alerts from Waze, which marks a new crossover between the apps.

We're not sure why it took so long to implement, but Google Maps users can now see Waze's (arguably superior) crowd-sourced incident report markers on their navigation routes.

Google Maps is gaining a valuable feature through integration with Waze, which will show you hazard warnings on the road, as first reported by 9to5Google. As promised earlier this year, the company has begun incorporating real-time incident reports from Waze users directly into the Google Maps interface.

First previewed in July, the feature displays roadblocks reported by Waze drivers in the Google Maps app. You can dismiss them or add details based on your own journey.
