It’s been 10 days since Klay Thompson’s emotional homecoming to the Bay Area for the epic showdown with the Golden State Warriors. But that one rousing effort against his former team has masked what’s otherwise been a tough beginning in Dallas for Thompson.

Warriors fans have been waiting for Klay's return to Chase Center since he left in free agency, so expect both sides to show out in Tuesday's NBA Cup matchup.

The Warriors have a special “Salute Captain Klay” ceremony planned for before tipoff to pay tribute to Thompson’s contributions to the franchise over 11 years. The team said: “Fans are encouraged to arrive early, by land or by sea, for a special pregame salute to the franchise legend.”

Klay Thompson exited the team bus then beamed as he strolled back into Chase Center, greeted by some 400 cheering Warriors employees showing their love and appreciation for the former Golden State star and lined up lined up along his path to the Dallas locker room.

Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 37 points and nine assists. He went 5-of-12 from the 3-point line. De'Anthony Melton added 14 points, and Buddy Hield finished with 14 points off the bench. The Warriors now sit at 9-3 on the season after the win, which marked their second straight. They'll host the Memphis Grizzlies next on Friday.
