VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A crash early Wednesday shut down part of Interstate 4 in Volusia County. The crash happened at Enterprise Road in the westbound lanes. All westbound lanes were closed but later reopened after 6 a.m. Details of the wreck have not yet been released.

A crash on Interstate 4 in Volusia County is causing serious delays Wednesday morning. All westbound lanes in the Deltona and DeBary area were shut down for hours, but traffic cameras now show two cleared lanes where vehicles are able to get by.

A crash stopped traffic early Wednesday on a stretch of Interstate 4 in Volusia County. Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash on the westbound lanes of I-4 near Debary shortly before 2 a.m. FHP’s website noted the injury crash happened near mile marker 109. As of 5:30 a.m., officials were still reporting the roadway was blocked.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said he did not have the answers nor the right words to convey his sadness after a missing 7-year-old boy with autism was found dead in a lake. It is the second child with autism in Volusia County who has wandered away and been found dead in a body of water – and the third in less than two weeks in Central Florida.

Charlie Newton was reported missing Monday out of Deltona, Florida in Volusia County, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
