Air India has ordered 100 more Airbus aircraft, the Tata Group-owned airline said on Monday. The order, which comprises 10 widebody A350 and 90 narrowbody A320 family aircraft, is in addition to the 470 aircraft order the airline placed with Airbus and Boeing last year.

Air India has placed an order to buy 100 more Airbus aircraft, the Tata Group-owned carrier said Monday, in a deal aimed at bolstering its fleet and winning over flyers.

Air India has placed an order for 100 additional Airbus aircraft, including 10 A350 wide-body planes and 90 A320 family jets. This expands their total Airbus fleet order to 350 aircraft, supporting the airline's growth under Tata’s leadership.

The deal is worth some $6.4 billion after typical industry discounts, according to estimated delivery prices from UK-based Cirium Ascend.

The phenomenal pace of Indian aviation is reflected not only in the growing number of passengers flown, but also by the order book of the three big airlines - IndiGo, Air India, and Akasa Air.

Air India on Monday confirmed that it placed an order to purchase 100 more Airbus aircraft, comprising 10 widebody A350 and 90 narrowbody A320 Family aircraft, including A321neo.

New aircraft orders are critical to Air India’s fleet expansion and modernisation plan, which the airline embarked upon after the Tata group acquired it from the government in January 2022.

The newest order will continue to bolster Air India’s increasing fleet, after its announcement in February 2023 of a firm order for 470 aircraft, with an option of 370 more.
