The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast more spells of rain in Chennai and districts, including Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Tiruvarur, and Thanjavur.

Fog remains an issue in several states as it is affecting the visibility for transportations. At least 24 flights were affected due to low visibility at the Kolkata airport in West Bengal on Wednesday.

According to IMD guidelines, a cold wave is declared in the plains when the minimum temperature falls to 4 degrees Celsius or below or when it drops between 4.5 to 6.4 degrees below normal

A drop of -0.4 degrees Celsius in the 24-hour average temperature was recorded on the second consecutive day of cold wave on Thursday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the city's minimum temperature could go up to 4 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
