The Golden State Valkyries, the WNBA’s 13th franchise, are gearing up for the WNBA Expansion Draft on Friday Dec 6.

The Golden State Valkyries were officially introduced as the 13th WNBA team, and the first expansion franchise since 2008, back in October 2023. Over a year later, they'll finally add some players to their roster with their highly anticipated expansion draft on Friday night.

The WNBA has not had an expansion team join the league since 2008—a fact fans have often lamented in recent years. After all, more teams mean more roster spots, more players in the league, and more games.
