Robert Griffin III returned to the D.C.-area gridiron on Wednesday, nine years after he last played quarterback for the Washington Redskins, to lead a football camp for the country’s “hidden heroes”: military families.

After being laid off by ESPN in August and spending three years with the network, Griffin is now embarking on a new career venture with Netflix. Griffin had two years remaining on his ESPN contract before being laid off, but a slew of cuts around the network had the former NFL quarterback packing his bags.

Robert Griffin III still doesn’t know why ESPN let him go back in August and, at this point almost four months later, he doesn’t need to know anymore. Griffin III discussed the end of his three-year run at the network while on ‘Pardon My Take’ on Friday.
