As Chennai Super Kings looked to add players whose skill sets are suited to conditions at the Chepauk, which is known for producing slow and low turners, the five-time champions bought India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for Rs 9.

Ashwin's services were snapped up by CSK in the auction, with the franchise outbidding other franchises, including Rajasthan Royals, in intense bidding

Ashwin was released by Rajasthan Royals ahead of this year’s auction after representing the outfit in the 2024 season.

Ravichandran Ashwin returns to Chennai Super Kings for a whopping Rs 9.75 crore after an intense bidding war with Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The veteran off-spinner previously played for CSK from 2009 to 2015 and brings a wealth of experience to the team.

Ravichandran Ashwin triggered the intense bidding war between four teams as the veteran spinner found a big contract in the IPL 2025 mega auctions. Chennai Super Kings also signed back their former players Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra.

Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to CSK, being sold for INR 9.75 crore after Rishabh Pant was bought for INR 27 crore earlier by LSG in a record-breaking start to the mega auction.
