Quebec And Newfoundland And Labrador Sign Historic Energy Deal
Quebec Premier François Legault and Newfoundland and Labrador Andrew Furey reached a new deal for energy from the Churchill Falls power plant in Labrador. The old deal, signed in 1969 and set to expire in 1941, saw Newfoundland and Labrador own the majority of the plant, but allowed Quebec to pocket the majority of the profits. (Dec. 12, 2024)
