Widespread rains lashed parts of Tamil Nadu on Thursday, prompting authorities to declare a holiday for schools in Chennai and many other districts

The regional weather office has forecast more spells of rain in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengelpet and Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur districts in the state, besides the neighbouring union territory Puducherry.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast more spells of rain in Chennai and districts, including Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Tiruvarur, and Thanjavur.

According to the IMD bulletin on Dec. 12, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are very likely to witness isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The carrier informed passengers that departures, arrivals and their consequential flights might be affected due to heavy rain.
