Pretty waterfalls, but not worth a trip just for that. Saw 6 bison 50 yards away, so I couldn't get a good photo. Park signs not clear, paper maps unavailable. Helpful park rangers. Full review by Susan A

It kind of depends on the spring weather. Typically the big hatches of gnats and mosquitoes come later. Also, Southern Minnesota has fewer biting insects than the northern areas in general. With all of that said, I would have some insect repellent handy on a trip in June.

Can you take dogs there? Was worried that with the bison and wildlife that they may not be welcomed. Also how much is the fee for this state park? We just moved to Rochester from St. Louis and we’re unaware of the fees associated with entering state parks glad I found that out before we go!

You can take your dog! They must be kept on a leash, however. You aren't allowed to get out of your vehicle on the bison drive anyway so your dog should be fine. The bison are …

You can take your dog! They must be kept on a leash, however. You aren't allowed to get out of your vehicle on the bison drive anyway so your dog should be fine. The bison are roamers so you're not always going to see them and they can be skittish, too. The falls side of the park has lots of trails to enjoy. We go there for picnics, hiking, and biking often in the summer. I hope you go as the park is really nice. It's kind of a 2 part park!
