It is located in the eastern Prignitz region on the Dosse River near the confluence with its Glinze tributary, about 20 kilometres east of Pritzwalk and 95 kilometres northwest of Berlin. Wittstock is situated in a terminal moraine landscape south of the Mecklenburg Lake District.
