A site that gives you the thrills. I'm not very religious. But consider myself a Catholic. Personally, I do not go to church every Sunday. But being there at that spot, and in the understanding that … Full review by Vincent v

Hello! I am interested in visiting the baptismal site from the Jordanian side and have a few questions. 1. Is there an entry fee to visit the exact site Jesus was baptized? 2. Is it a long walk to the ancient ruins and after to the river? 3. Are there changing rooms if I decide to enter the river? Thank you
A:
Jim, the entrance fee is 12 JD. You have to take a small bus to the actual baptismal site - you are pretty much supervised at all times - can’t stray from the group. I didn’t see it because I …

Jim, the entrance fee is 12 JD. You have to take a small bus to the actual baptismal site - you are pretty much supervised at all times - can’t stray from the group. I didn’t see it because I didn’t go into the river but I believe there is a changing room. A couple of people on my bus went into the water and they had to change their clothes. I wrote a detailed review of my experience back in January if you are interested - it includes pricing and what you have access to.

I'm sorry I only saw your question today. We took the Where it all Began Tour, with Isreal Tourism Consultants. We did the 15 day Tour of Egypt, Jordan, Israel. If your Dad is older and unable to do the walking in all these countries and a 15 day tour, check out many of their other tours. They have lots of options. Hope this helps. We always felt safe and it was so well organized.

Not sure about the Israel side. From Jordan side, no bus. You can take a taxi to the site, but you will have to ask your taxi to wait for you. Due to tight security around the area, you don't see many taxis to hail there. I hired a driver (recommended by my hotel) who charged me a flat rate to drive me to the baptism site and back to the hotel.
