Q:
Hi I see you mentioned the Norwegian resistance museum. Is this still open. I see on the net that there was a fire in 2013.
A:
Jeepers, seemed fine to me. I wish I spoke Norwegian because there was limited English interpretations. The military museum a short walk away is superior and free.

We actually were there in April and the tourist office told us it would be open but it was not. When we arrived the sign on the door posted hours and days but nevertheless it was closed all day. This was the only time we encountered this in all of Norway. Other museums were very organized. So the moral of the story is: when you get there, just go and hopefully you will be able to get in. If it is the same week as Easter, it will be closed the entire week.

Cannot precisely answer to "inside" the castle. Possibly some parts as there is a "guided" tour available (fee). You can definitely wander around most/all the grounds. We entered on the harbor side ... where we entered is the Resistance Museum (about the German occupation) which is open to the public. There was also a guard posted at one of the gates o the main building ... reminded me of the guards at Buckingham Palace. Sorry I wasn't of more help.
