Nov 22, 2021 · Actually requires tight timings on the monitor to achieve 4k 144hz @ 10bit. You're hitting 54.8Gb/s (35.8Gb/s + overhead) with that and HDMI 2.1 (12Ghz) max is 42.6Gb/s. So you either need a monitor with either very tight timings or using reduced blanks etc..., or using DSC. 8bit can be handled without DSC or custom timings.

I didn’t really care too much about using monitor 60hz because I was on a budget then. Keep in mind, finding a good quality 4K 144hz HDR600 or 1000 monitor is hard plus it’s expensive.
