Jun 11, 2020 · I installed a dual pot MC in my son’s 1968. No booster yet. New 1/4” copper/nickel lines to the front drums and 3/16” lines to the rear. I have an adjustable brake bias valve in the rear brake line circuit too.

Mar 21, 2012 · Drum brakes of any normal size use 1/4" line or larger yet on big trucks. It'll be a small drum brake that uses 3/16", cars and light trucks. Disc brakes don't have return springs, the pads are always skimming the rotors and very little fluid volume is necessary to apply the brake. That's why many of them use 3/16" line.

Mar 21, 2012 · The standard size seems to be 3/16, but whomever did the lines on my truck last used 1/4. Now, my truck is not stock. It has power brakes, front disc and rear drum, and the MC/booster, calipers and rear wheels cylinders are all from a 70'Chevelle. So the previous owner used a combination of 3/16 and 1/4 brake lines, with a lot of adapter fittings.

Sep 16, 2008 · The summit tank, and most other poly tanks as I would imagine, have a connection on top of the tank for a return line/vent. I was thinking of making a vent tube by bending some steel fuel/brake line and running it so it does a 180 out of the tank, pointing down at the ground and ending about 2 inches lower than the bottom of the tank.

Jun 16, 2017 · DOT 3 brake fluids are mixtures of glycols and glycol ethers. DOT 4 contains borate esters in addition to what is contained in DOT 3. These brake fluids are somewhat similar to automotive anti-freeze (ethylene glycol) and are not, a petroleum fluid. DOT 5 is silicone chemistry. Brake system materials must be compatible with the system fluid.

3 days ago · As long as you change it out annually, brake parts will last a very long time with Dot 3/4. Don't go too long. I changed out the brake fluid this month on my wife's 2004 Honda and it was already quite discolored after just 4 years. I'm not going to let it go that long again but I hadn't had to do a brake job on it yet.
