Jun 13, 2021 · Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm glad I stumbled on this! I LITERALLY had this exact same problem. Dark and light alternating vertical bands on my AW2721D, and I could seen icons from a browser resembling burn in. Went away after a couple of resets but I'm taking no chances and am organising a replacement with Dell atm.

Edit: Dell has amazing customer service and comes with 3 years of warranty on the aw2721D. I did a dead pixel, ips glow and backlight bleed test. I've found no noticeable issue with my display. I've read horror stories about people going through 3 - 4 AW2721D monitors, but I think those people are looking for perfection, or got rly unlucky.

As an owner of the AW2721D I'm not sure about how accurate that review was. I think that maybe HDR was turned on in windows when he checked that as mine is definitely pretty oversaturated out the box. If I toggle windows HDR in it looks quite close to my old sRGB colour space monitor however. For overdrive I'd also say that only fast is usable.

Dec 23, 2020 · The AW2721D is a good looking display, up there with good monitors from Asus like the XG279Q or XG27UQ. Due to the lack of sRGB clamp, you get over saturation but it does appear there is some wide gamut calibration here thankfully.

Dec 21, 2020 · Compared to dell s2721dgf and gigabyte aurus FI27Q-P I tested on the game the bleed is much more noticable in in the aw especially the dimming zones when they light up. Not sure if there's open threads but want to create a general thread for aw2721d. I have been using the dell aw2721d for like 2 weeks now and plan to keep it.

Hi, I'm having some trouble understanding how Smart HDR actually works on the AW2721D. I currently have my NVidia Control Panel color profile set to RGB, 8bpc, and Full dynamic range (4:2:2 with 10bpc made text look really weird, and I'd rather have 240hz personally). I also have HDR on in Windows 10 settings.

Aug 31, 2021 · My original Dell Alienware AW2721D that I bought from November 2020 started showing a purple vertical line, so I contacted Dell and have them sent me a replacement. I got my replacement today, was excited, but it came with the same vertical line at the exact same location, except it's yellow line. I noticed a few other people had the same issue:

Nov 27, 2020 · + I've asked Dell twice now, via Amazon Q&A for the AW2721D, they've yet to respond. I'm near certain at this point, this display does not support Display Stream Compression (DSC), there was a lot of rumor on here that firmware was supposed to be released this week to update the DSC capabilities, and as we all know, that has yet to happen.

May 24, 2022 · I reached out to Dell about this and they said it can be updated via AWCC (Alienware Command Center) within the FX section, via the "settings" tab, when the monitor is plugged into a USB port on the computer using the cable. My current 27" monitor does show in AWCC, but there are no options to check for an update or anything, anywhere there.
