However, if the screen does have built in speakers you need to go Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage Audio Devices and set either your headphone jack or the screen to be the default device.

It worked fine when I added a pair. All @foxyloxy2 can do is connect a cable from the computers "green" or audio out to the monitor and see what happens!
