May 30, 2013 · Some weeks back I discussed the possibility of a nylon string Parlor with Ashvin and the result is pictured below. I asked for a 14-fret long scale for added string tension and it really seems to work. Although it lacks the projection of a full size classical it has plenty of volume and it sound fantastic plugged in.

I have a 1966 Martin nylon parlor guitar that sounds OK but can not compete in sonic color/tone/projection with the Japanese classical guitars I have from the late 60's. One of my Japanese nylons is made of Brazilian rosewood. Now there is only one company that can produce guitars legally using this wood, internationally.

Especially if anyone is using silk & steel strings on their parlor, as someone recommended Martin's folk guitar silk & steel strings (.0115 - .047) as THE ideal string for small bodied instruments. Any thoughts welcome!

Feb 17, 2011 · I had a LaPatrie Collection a few years ago. It isn't a classical guitar as far as I'm concerned. It might work well as an accompaniment or folk guitar. Mine didn't put out enough volume, but it was very playable and a nice guitar for the price. They're fairly heavily built for nylon stringed instruments - or at least they were when I bought mine.

I've run the gamut of Takamine, Ovation, La Patrie, and Taylor, but finally settled on a Cordoba C9 Parlor which, although not strictly a crossover in that it does not have the radiused fretboard, has the reduced nut width dimensions of 1 7/8".

I had played my way through over 40 nylon string wooden guitars before I moved into the CF market. Since finding CF guitars I've had the Emerald X10N & X20-OSN, the Blackbird Rider, Super OMN and Uke, and the Rainsong Parlor.

My primary nylon string guitar is not a true classical. It has a flat fretboard with 2 inch wide at the nut. I find the wider spacing between strings & at the nut make fingerstyle playing easier for me.

Jun 6, 2011 · In the future, if I want a nylon string, I'll buy a cheap classical. If you decide to try it, one reccomendation: leave NO-ZERO-NADA slack on the strings when putting the on. You have to turn nylons ALOT more than steels to being them to tension, they stretch like crazy.
