David Hasselhoff is remembering his late Baywatch costar, Michael Newman. “Newman was a warrior ... he literally saved my life at least 4 times,” the Mitch Buchanan actor wrote alongside a photo of him and Newman on the Baywatch set via Instagram late Tuesday2.

He started out on the David Hasselhoff series as a stuntman and technical adviser and stuck around for 10 seasons.

Michael Newman, who played a lifeguard of the same name on “Baywatch,” died Oct. 20, nearly two decades after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Newman was 67 years old. His friend Matt Felker said Newman died “from heart complications” but was surrounded by friends and family at the time he passed, People magazine reported.
