Spirit AeroSystems is weighing furloughs or layoffs of hundreds more employees if the Boeing machinists' strike stretches beyond Nov. 25, a company spokesman told CNBC on Thursday. More than 32,000 Boeing machinists walked off the job on Sept.

"Just to be clear, there's no change in our commitment to the Spirit acquisition and the integration," Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said.

The plane manufacturer said the employees affected by the furloughs were working on Boeing’s 767 and 777 programs.
