A video of a police operation in Berlin has been misleadingly linked online to the Dec. 20 car-ramming attack at a Christmas market in the central German city of Magdeburg in posts suggesting that Muslims were targeted by authorities following the attack.

The alleged perpetrator of the deadly car-ramming attack on a Christmas market last week in Germany had been contacted by police just weeks before the incident, authorities said on Monday, as the number of people injured climbed to 235.

German media reported that before the attack, there had been warnings into a potential threat from the suspect. The suspect, a doctor from Saudi Arabia named Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, arrived in Germany in 2006 and in 2016 was recognised as a refugee.

Police in Magdeburg, the central city where the attack took place on Friday evening, said that the victims were four women ranging in age from 45 to 75, as well as a 9-year-old boy they had spoken
