Israel’s national security council called on Israelis to get out of tourist areas in Sri Lanka’s south, claiming a terrorist threat.

The warning comes as Israel’s national security council called on Israelis to immediately leave some tourist areas in southern Sri Lanka over the threat. Sri Lanka police spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa said special security measures had been put in place at Arugam Bay in the country’s east.

Sri Lanka police have arrested three persons in connection with a possible attack on Israel travellers in the Indian ocean island, a government minister said on Thursday, a day after the authorities stepped up the security across the country,

The arrests, all of Sri Lankans, came a day after the U.S. and Israel issued warnings to its citizens to avoid a popular tourist area.
