Halloween may be next week but the spooky spirit will take over the city starting this weekend. The Village Halloween Parade is New York’s most beloved event for the season but many other parades will march through the city leading up to Thursday.

The beloved Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade may not return to the East Village next year, according to its organizer. The 34th annual parade brought spooky pooches to Avenue A on Saturday, dressed in elaborate costumes from a pigeon to Moo Deng.

The parade, which began as a fundraiser for the park, has since grown to include dozens of participants and thousands of spectators, according to The Associated Press. But this could be its final year if a new organizer is not found.
